Guangdong Vocational College of science and technology is a full-time college approved by the people's Government of Guangdong Province and registered by the Ministry of education.Founded in 1985, formerly known as Guangdong science and Technology Cadre College, it was restructured into an ordinary university in 2003. In 2004, it was recognized as a pilot University for the training project of skilled talents in the construction industry by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of construction. In 2010, it was determined as a key construction unit of Higher Vocational Colleges under the "National Model Higher Vocational College Construction Plan" by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance. In 2015, it was selected as one of the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units in China.According to the official website of the University in December 2019, the university has two campuses, Guangzhou and Zhuhai (main campus), covering an area of 2012 mu, with a construction area of more than 500000 square meters; the university has 23984 full-time students, and by 2017, the university has 1327 teaching staff, including 1063 full-time teachers; it has opened 11 secondary colleges (departments), with 63 majors. In December 2019, it was listed as the third type of high-level professional group construction unit (Grade B) by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance.
