Zunyi Medical University is the first undergraduate medical university founded by the Communist Party of China after the victory of the Anti Japanese war. It is a University jointly built by the National Health Commission and the people's Government of Guizhou Province, a pilot University of excellent doctor education and training program, and a first-class discipline construction university in Guizhou Province. It has been selected as the basic capacity construction project of universities in central and Western China.The school was founded in 1947, formerly known as Kanto medical college. In 1949, Kanto medical college was merged into Dalian University and renamed as Medical College of Dalian University. In 1950, Dalian University was abolished and Dalian Medical College became independent. In 1969, in order to support the "three line construction", the University moved to Zunyi and renamed Zunyi Medical College. In 2018, it was renamed Zunyi Medical University.According to the official website of the University in January 2019, the university has three campuses: Xinpu campus, Dalian Road Campus and Zhuhai Campus, covering an area of more than 2500 Mu and collecting 1.3184 million books. It has 28 teaching departments and 30 undergraduate majors, with 8 first-class master's degree authorization points and 59 second-class master's degree authorization points. It has more than 16000 full-time students and 1090 full-time teachers.
